Passionate and passionate, Marco is a craftsman at Rémy Garnier. Portrait.

He studied at the famous Ecole Boulle: first, he followed a Formation aux Métiers d'Art (with a specialization in bronze turning) from his seconde to terminale. He then obtained a DNMADE degree from the same school.

He will join the Maison Rémy Garnier workforce in September 2023.

A versatile artist

At Rémy Garnier, Marco practises many different skills: he is both an assembler and a turner. "Well... I'm more of a turner than a fitter," he admits.

His most memorable project since his arrival? The "famous pool ladder, without hesitation" for a famous house in an Eastern country. He loved working on this project, which was a real challenge for him, both in terms of shooting and mounting.

"It took me a good month to get the hang of it," he explains.

But it's true that the rendering is majestic and impressive.

Proud in his craft!

Marco is fortunate to be a craftsman who knows how to turn on the fly (or freehand), as well as lost skills such as knurling. These are patterns printed on bronze using special tools.

This turning practice consists of reproducing shapes using tools hand-forged by the craftsman himself. By turning on the fly, the curves of the piece are sublimated. The result is a smooth, perfect copy of the original piece.

He explains that he learned this practice during his time at the Ecole Boulle: only 3 students graduate with this background each year. Unfortunately, not enough is known about this training.

A craftsman in his spare time too

His free time also rhymes with workshop. He has set up a workshop at home to create his own pieces. "I love it, it's my life," he says. "I create and model all the time," he adds.

But don't worry, Marco also spends a lot of time with his friends, for some very convivial moments.
